Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are delighted to announce the formation of ‘Team Aberdeen’, an integrated partnership of key industry partners to help encourage event organisers to hold their major events in Aberdeen.
The conference and large events market is continuing to grow in Aberdeen and AECC has already risen up two industry ranking tables in 2012 by progressively increasing the number of international conferences hosted in the Aberdeen City and Shire.

UIA (Union of International Associations) ranked Aberdeen as 5th in the UK equal (with Newcastle and Cambridge) and ICCA (International Convention and Congress Association) ranked Aberdeen 9th in the UK.

Recently, Aberdeen has welcomed the following international events: World Heavy Oil Congress, 700 International delegates; European Optical Society, 600 International delegates; The British Science Festival and The Walker Cup Golf Tournament.

‘Team Aberdeen’ has been devised to attract prospective major event clients to Aberdeen, offering greater support due to the partnership benefits which ‘Team Aberdeen’ offers.

‘Team Aberdeen’ consists of key industry partners: Aberdeen International Airport, Aberdeen City Council, Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, ACSEF and VisitAberdeen.

This new partnership helps Aberdeen to be more competitive in the UK and International markets by working in unison to help continue securing large national and international events to take place in Aberdeen City and Shire, and ensuring support at senior level when bidding for events.

Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC commented: “’Team Aberdeen’ formalises the concept by which Aberdeen has been generating business over the years. We instigated this move in order to reinforce this message to existing and prospective clients to celebrate the unique aspect enjoyed by industry in the North East, in which businesses work together for the benefit of the region. We are delighted to be announcing this today and hope for complete backing by all in the City and Shire.”
