Simpson & Marwick is delighted to announce that the firm has won the Family Law Team of the year award at the Scott & Co Legal Awards.

The awards were presented at the prestigious ceremony at the EICC and judged by a panel of independent experts from business, law and politics, including Margo MacDonald, MSP, Sir Andrew Cubie CBE and Lorna Jack, Chief Executive of the Law Society of Scotland.

The awards which are in their tenth year celebrate excellence and the best work of the Scottish legal professionals in 2012. The Family Team was named Team of the Year for it’s dedication in helping families in often challenging legal circumstances. The team was recognised by the judges “for having handled many complex cases” and for submitting a “well presented entry which outshone the competition”.

The team is headed by partner, Shaun George who is based at the firm’s Carden Terrace, Aberdeen office. Shaun commented “I am delighted that the efforts of the whole team in providing an excellent service to our clients across Scotland have been recognised.”

Simpson & Marwick’s Family Team started in Aberdeen and has grown rapidly in the last nine years with the addition of specialist partners and other lawyers locally and in its offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow. “The buoyant North East economy generates many complex and high value divorce cases. Increasingly we have been instructed in child relocation cases which often arise when employees are posted abroad in the oil and gas industry” added Shaun.

The firm also won the Innovation award sponsored by Millar & Bryce for its design of a new systems software package resulting in the reduction of the average life cycle of a personal injury case to settlement.
