An Aberdeen-based company, offering specialist operational geology software and services, has won a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade for the first time as it celebrates the landmark of reaching 100 employees.
HRH Geology is one of only three Aberdeen and ten Scottish companies to receive this prestigious business award for outstanding growth in overseas markets.
Formed in 1989, HRH Geology has grown steadily and organically to achieve a current turnover of around £9million and has just employed its hundredth member of staff.
In the last six years, the company has been diversifying into new markets in North America, the Middle-east, Africa and South East Asia. Overseas sales have risen each year in this period and now account for more than 60% of total sales.
HRH Geology exports its proprietary software and services to 64 countries. The company has also delivered training and services in every continent and placed geologists in most of the oil and gas provinces around the world.
With regional offices in Houston, Abu Dhabi and Jakarta, HRH Geology also has agent representation in every corner of the world, ensuring a truly global presence.
Founder and managing director, David Harrison, said: “It is a real honour to receive a Queen’s Award for our considerable achievement in international trade and a testament to the hard work of our people in developing and successfully implementing our internationalisation strategy.
“We combine innovation with scientific rigour to develop new geological tools using leading edge technology and provide clients with exceptionally skilled and motivated people. Our products and services enable operators to improve the quality of their data in the search for hydrocarbons by ensuring the right decisions, based on accurate geological information, are taken when planning, drilling and completing a well.”
From its beginnings as a developer of the world’s first geological log drawing software product, HRH Geology has evolved into a global provider of integrated geological services including wellsite geologists, advanced gas analysis, software, and training.
