Lanarkshire’s corporate venues have been put on the map as foodie hotspots with the launch of a new regional food map.

The map paints a vivid picture of the varied food scene in the region - from farm shops and markets, to contemporary cafes and hotel restaurants.

The Lanarkshire Larder Food Map includes six of Lanarkshire’s top corporate locations featured on venues finder - VenuesLanarkshire.com.

The new free map has been developed by leading food and entertainment guide The List working with North and South Lanarkshire Councils and in partnership with Scotland Food and Drink. The inclusion of the VenuesLanarkshire listed providers demonstrates the diversity of the county’s corporate offering. The six venues included on the map are Mill One Restaurant at New Lanark Mill Hotel, Oaks Café at Chatelherault Country Park, The Glasshouse Restaurant and Bar at The AlonA Hotel, Mezzanine Café at Low Parks Museum, The Parkville Hotel and The Wide Mouth Frog Restaurant at Dalziel Park Hotel & Golf Club.

The VenuesLanarkshire.com locations are supporters of the regions producers and aim to use the best local and seasonal Lanarkshire produce. This includes suppliers like AG Barr, famed makers of Irn Bru; Damn Delicious, an online butcher and farmer, who rears his livestock exclusively on grass and kale; Errington Cheese, known for making Lanark Blue; and the multi-award winning artisan ice-cream maker Equi’s.

The region’s venues are as diverse as its food produce. Chatelherault Country Park offers plenty of space in its grounds for team building, the 18th Century New Lanark Mill Hotel, situated in a UNESCO World Heritage site and there are many luxury hotels for more traditional locations. Close to air and rail links, the region is easy to access from both Edinburgh and Glasgow and across the central belt.

Mark Calpin, chair of the Lanarkshire Tourism Association said “We are very proud of the range of corporate venues we have to offer in Lanarkshire and are really pleased that a number of these have now been recognised for their excellent food and drink. Having food at a meeting is always likely to increase attendance, having great food can inspire delegates and boost morale. Therefore we are looking forward to welcoming businesses to Lanarkshire for the chance to enjoy some of the best food in the country which will inspire their delegates and hopefully lead to more successful meetings and events.”

Donald Reid, Food & Drink Editor at The List, said; “A project such as the Lanarkshire Larder Food Map quite literally does the job of putting local food and drink on the map. With their first glance at the map readers often express their surprise that there’s so much out there. Small-scale food and drink is a thriving part of Scottish life and business, and with this map Lanarkshire is proving itself to be fully part of that process.”
