A new service has been launched in Aberdeen to help people secure their first job or make their next career move.
CV Aberdeen, a newly-established city business, provides expert support and guidance for anyone making their first foray into the world of work, aiming to get back into work after redundancy, or simply looking to take their career in a new direction.

The business, run by managing director Darren Aggasild and operations director Karen Ferguson, offers CV writing services as well as advice on cover letters, interview preparation and LinkedIn profiles.

Tailored cost packages are available for individual candidates as well as businesses who wish to outsource their support services for personnel when going through redundancy programmes.

Darren said: “CV Aberdeen has been launched as a bespoke career toolkit service aimed at optimising an individual’s chances to secure employment.

“We are living in challenging economic times and it is essential that a candidate can stand out in front of employers to maximise their prospects.

“CV Aberdeen has more than 40 years’ combined experience in the recruitment and HR industries, and knows what employers in a variety of business sectors look for in potential employees.”

The business is linking with organisations including AFC Community Trust and sportscotland to deliver its services and to reach people of all ages and backgrounds.

CV Aberdeen and AFC Community Trust will look to work together to hold careers workshops providing attendees with the necessary skills and confidence to secure employment.

Russell Anderson, former Aberdeen FC captain and spokesman for AFC Community Trust, said: “It’s great to see an organisation like CV Aberdeen starting up to provide their services to people across the North-east of Scotland.

“We share many core values with the firm as the work done by AFC Community Trust is geared towards providing opportunities to change lives for the better, and we’re sure that CV Aberdeen will prove to be a useful option for many people throughout Aberdeen.”

sportscotland has hailed its new relationship with CV Aberdeen and is confident that the group can help athletes who may be approaching the end of their sporting careers to plan their future.

Colin Gallacher, performance lifestyle adviser at sportscotland, said: “We’re delighted to be working alongside CV Aberdeen to help some of our athletes make the transition into a new career environment. We’re looking forward to holding workshops with the group in the future.”

Darren Aggasild has more than 15 years of experience within the recruitment and careers industry and is currently the managing director of an established Aberdeen-based recruitment company which operates in a number of business sectors.

Karen Ferguson is also an experienced recruitment manager having worked in the industry for 28 years. She has built up a strong reputation for placing candidates into roles in sectors including: engineering and technical, drilling, industrial, commercial, catering and executive search.
