The sustained overseas business success of an Aberdeen specialist in operational geology software and services to the oil & gas industry has resulted in the firm receiving its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

HRH Geology has been presented with the prestigious accolade for outstanding achievement (growth) over three years.

With a turnover of £11 million, HRH recorded international sales at more than £6 million for the financial year ending March 2015.

Recent successes for the business include a large software related contract in Indonesia and the first deployment of its innovative advanced gas analysis service in the Middle East.

In addition, the firm has been involved with an unconventional oil shale project in Jordan to provide customised software solutions to manage geological drilling operations. This has been supported with the supply of trainers to mentor the local workforce.

Despite a global industry downturn, HRH has been able to continually increase its business due to the firm’s matrix approach to selling across different geographic regions and product lines. This has ensured a downturn in one region or product line has not adversely impacted the business as whole.

Dawood Khan, managing director at HRH, said: “The strength of our technology is its flexibility and that it can be adapted to different well types and local situations. We have an innovative approach to operational geology, we develop it here in the UK and apply our skills and technology all around the world.”

He added: “It is a great honour to receive our second Queen’s Award in such a short space of time and a testament to the hard work of our staff. We will continue to invest in providing the best quality technologies and products, indeed, we have several exciting developments planned for the year ahead.”

In 2013, HRH Geology was awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in recognition of its continuous achievement over six years. The latest award underpins the company’s sustained growth success over the last nine years.

With regional offices in Houston, Abu Dhabi and Jakarta, HRH Geology also has agent representation across other key provinces, ensuring a truly global presence.

From its beginnings as a developer of the world’s first geological log drawing software product, HRH Geology has evolved into a global provider of integrated geological services including wellsite and operations geologists, advanced gas analysis, software, and training.
