A business networking organisation that is helping firms survive and grow during challenging economic times in the north-east is to launch two new groups.
The new weekly networking gatherings in Aberdeen and Inverurie take the total number of BNI Scotland North groups to 14.
BNI Aberdeenshire is holding a launch event at Thainstone House Hotel on Friday, June 3, while BNI Focus holds its event at Aberdeen’s Palm Court Hotel on Wednesday, June 15. Both groups already have more than 20 confirmed members. The admission fee for each event is £10 and both events start at 6.30am.
Rob Hamilton, executive director at BNI Scotland North, said: “We’re delighted to have added new groups in Aberdeen and Inverurie. The groups are a proactive way to meet new people and generate new business referrals during a tough economic period for many north-east businesses.
“We are confident the new groups will go from strength to strength and there is still time to sign up.”
The BNI Scotland North franchise was acquired by Aberdeen businessmen Rob Hamilton and Trevor Mutch in October 2014.
The north of Scotland region has since risen in the BNI rankings from 38th best in the UK to 1st as of December 2015.
Membership has increased by 111% from 170 to 360 members in the past 18 months. In the past year, members across the north have passed 11,700 referrals resulting in £12.9m worth of business.
There are six BNI groups in Aberdeen, including the new one at The Palm Court, two in Dundee, and one each in Inverness, Perth, Montrose, Dunfermline and the soon-to-be-launched Inverurie group. A new Elgin group was launched last week (Friday, May 20).
BNI (Business Network International) is the largest business face-to-face referral organisation in the world with over 180,000 people regularly attending 7,100 meetings globally.
In the UK and Ireland, there are more than 13,000 members passing nearly 661,000 referrals worth over £421m every year.
Following the launch at Thainstone House Hotel, BNI Aberdeenshire will meet every Friday at Inverurie’s The Fly Cup café from 7am to 9am, while BNI Focus will meet every Wednesday at The Palm Court from 7am to 9am.
