WEST On The Green, the beer hall and restaurant on Glasgow Green, has been crowned Scotland’s Pub of the Year at the inaugural Pub & Bar Magazine Awards.
Initially named winner of the Pub of the Year in the Glasgow category a few weeks ago, WEST On The Green was this week awarded with the Scotland-wide title at a special event hosted by journalist and broadcaster Jay Rayner at BAFTA, London.
From perfect service to product range, aesthetic design or entertainment schedules, the winners were selected by Pub & Bar magazine’s internal judging panel on all of the aspects required to provide ultimate hospitality within the on-trade.
“It was an absolute pleasure to reward and acknowledge these incredible businesses at what was none other than a celebration of standout hospitality and business practice. This selection of pubs and bars shows just what a fantastic industry the UK on-trade is,” said Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub & Bar magazine.
Petra Wetzel, founder of WEST On The Green, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to win this prestigious award, and accept it on behalf of all our dedicated team at WEST. There are many fantastic pubs and bars throughout Scotland, so to be named the best in the country really is a remarkable achievement and honour!”
This latest award follows WEST On The Green’s 10th anniversary celebrations earlier this year which heralded the opening of a new brewery, a new Courtyard events space and an extra special birthday bash featuring none other than 80s pop duo Go West!
The new brewery on WEST’s site at the Templeton Building beside Glasgow Green multiplies its production capacity ten-fold. The £5million investment in the new facility has created half a dozen new jobs and will enable the fast-growing brewer to bottle its range of niche beers.
The £1 million Courtyard, meanwhile, is an inspired space that incorporates the industrial grandeur of a full production brewery with the style and finesse of a premier events suite.
WEST On The Green is open seven days a week.
