New Royal Deeside Gin launched

A new gin has been produced in Royal Deeside by local couple Steven and Lynne Duthie.

Esker Gin is distilled in a traditional copper still, using locally sourced botanicals where possible and is the result of two years’ distillation sampling by the couple.

The gin will be introduced to gin lovers at Taste Angus Festival 2016 at Glamis Castle on 20 and 21 August, and Royal Deeside Speed Festival at Kincardine Castle on 21 August.

A unique addition to the market, the gin incorporates sap from the silver birch tree, tapped from the Kincardine Estate in Royal Deeside.

The first batch of Esker Gin received positive feedback from gin lovers when it was launched at Taste of Grampian in June, and development work has since been undertaken on its bespoke bottle and branding.

Steven Duthie, Director of Esker Spirits, commented: “We have developed our recipe using local botanicals wherever we can, so to work with Deeside Drinks Emporium to showcase our gin in Tayside and Deeside simultaneously is a great opportunity that reflects our commitment to the region. The gin market is buzzing with different flavours and techniques, and we are really excited to be part of this modern day gin experience.”
