Reverb.com, the online marketplace for musicians to buy, sell and learn about music gear, has hired Iain Butterwick as UK and Ireland Territory Manager.
In this position, Butterwick will be responsible for continuing the momentum and success achieved in the region by building brand awareness, recruiting sellers, consulting on development of new features on the platform and more.
“As a musician and former music store manager, I understand the frustration that comes with buying and selling music gear on eBay, Gumtree and similar websites,” said Butterwick. “Reverb is solving a real pain point for musicians looking for an easy, affordable and safe way to buy and sell gear. I’m thrilled to join the team and to introduce the marketplace to even more musicians, retailers and manufacturers in the UK and Ireland.”
Based in Glasgow, Butterwick has been involved in the musical instrument industry as both a player and a seller for more than a decade. Butterwick got his start as the first employee at guitarguitar, the UK’s largest guitar store, before joining Kenny’s Music in Glasgow as a store manager.
In addition to adding dedicated support in the UK and Ireland, Reverb today announced the launch of its mobile app in Europe. The app enables musicians and music lovers all over the world to discover new music gear and easily list items for sale straight from their mobile phone.
“We’re excited to not only continue to make gear from all over the world accessible to musicians in the region, but also to continue to introduce sellers in Ireland and the UK to buyers all over the world,” said Kevin Drost, Director of International Strategy for Reverb.com. “I’m looking forward to our continued growth and success in the UK and Ireland under Iain’s leadership.”
