Dundee computer games veteran Chris van der Kuyl has joined the board of computer games label Team17 as non-executive Chairman following the recent partnership with mid-market Private Equity firm LDC.

Chris co-founded, co-owns and is Chairman of 4J Studios along with business partner and 4J CEO Paddy Burns. 4J is responsible for bringing the multimillion selling Minecraft to all game console formats.

“It’s an honour to be able to invest in and play a part in the Team17 story. Debbie and her team represent a pillar of the British games industry and I can’t wait to see where this new and exciting chapter takes the company” said Chris.

Debbie Bestwick MBE added “I’ve known Chris for a few decades and this is the perfect time for us to start working together to take Team17 to the next stage of growth. Next year is going to be one the most exciting times for the company and for all our label partners”.

Team17 has recently acquired Mouldy Toof Studios and the award winning, multimillion selling franchise The Escapists following a partnership with Private Equity Firm LDC which has invested £16.5million to support the continued growth of the company.

Alongside LDC, 4J Studios founders have invested in a minority stake in Team17 as part of the aforementioned deal.
