Arbikie Highland Estate has been awarded a gold medal for both its vodka and gin at The Luxury Spirits Masters 2016 – the only producer to win gold in multiple categories.
The influential trade magazine The Spirits Business created ‘The Luxury Spirits Masters 2016’, as a new addition to the Global Spirits Masters series, in order to reward and celebrate excellence in the upper echelons of the industry.
With entries from around the world, competition for medals was fierce. Each producer submitted a sample to a panel of industry experts who carried out the blind tastings.
Arbikie Highland Estate is a two thousand acre farm based on the east coast of Scotland. Arbikie is a single estate distillery meaning everything is grown, distilled, matured and bottled all on the one location. Arbikie launched Scotland’s first potato vodka in October 2014.
Arbikie subsequently launched ‘Kirsty’s Gin’ in 2015 named after its Master Distiller Kirsty Black.
‘Kirsty’s Gin’ is unique in that it’s Scotland’s first gin to be distilled from scratch without using bought in grain neutral spirit. Arbikie has stayed true to their single estate ethos using botanicals local to the Angus region.
Iain Stirling, Commercial Director commented:
“We are absolutely delighted to have bee awarded gold for our vodka and Kirsty’s Gin. As the only producer to have won in multiple categories in a global competition it is an incredible achievement for a business that isn’t even two years old! Credit must go to our talented farm team who are responsible for growing our crops and of course Kirsty and Christian, our two distillers who constantly strive for perfection in everything they do.”
