Scotland’s only award ceremony to recognise excellence within the trades and construction industry, has itself received special recognition, winning the award for ‘Best Awards Scheme’ at this year’s Scottish Event Awards held recently.
The Trades Awards, which were launched in 2013 to showcase outstanding individuals and companies within the North-east construction industry, are open to businesses of all sizes, with categories including ‘Apprentice of the Year’, ‘Tradesman of the Year’, and ‘Best Trades Business’.
The awards ceremony, which has been sponsored by Stewart Milne Group for the past two years, faced stiff competition from The Forth Awards, a well-established annual event that celebrates Edinburgh’s local heroes with both listeners and the business community. Other local winners included Spectra Aberdeen’s Festival of Light 2016, and Robert Gordon University’s Student Festival.
Darren Ross, Director, Trades Awards comments: “We are absolutely delighted that Trades Awards has been recognised at this year’s Scottish Event Awards. There are so many incredible events taking place in Scotland at the moment, as can be seen by the full list of this year’s nominees, and we are just proud to be mentioned alongside them.”
“This award is really for every person who has taken the time to submit a Trades Awards application across the past four years, and to every company who has supported the event since its launch in 2013. Without you, we would not have this platform to showcase the incredible talent that the north-east has to offer, and we are already working hard to ensure that Trades Awards 2017 is the biggest celebration of top trades talent yet”
Neil Thomson, Construction Director of Stewart Milne Homes says: “It’s really encouraging to see the Trades Awards team being recognised for its fantastic celebration of North East Talent at the 2016 Scottish Event Awards. The team at Xcite Media pour themselves into all aspects of Trades Awards; from creating the awards categories, attracting new and repeat nominations, encouraging new and existing businesses celebrate the lifeblood of their organisations – the people. All of these efforts culminate in the tireless organising of the Trades Awards, which we’ve seen grow year on year, to become a regular fixture in the Aberdeen awards calendar.”
“This awards helps to highlight and celebrate the growth and popularity of the Trades Awards and we, at Stewart Milne Group, are delighted to fully support this event and all it stands for, for the construction industry.”
