What better way to spend time after retiring from professional rugby, than to go back to your roots and give something back to the clubs you started from?

That’s exactly what ex-professional and international players Tom May and Carl Hayman have done. Both hit the big time and hold caps for their countries; Tom with caps for England and Carl former captain of New Zealand All Blacks, they were also teammates at Newcastle Falcons and Toulon and decided to team up on this unique business concept that puts grassroots rugby at the heart of it all.

“We truly believe in nurturing players from a young age and providing them with the skills to take into the professional game. We’ve seen first hand the struggles that the dedicated and passionate volunteers who run the amateur clubs go through to balance keeping the clubs afloat and coaching and mentoring players. By providing them with a platform which can help them increase revenue and encourage more members and volunteers, this will go some way to securing the successful future of rugby in the UK.”

To help take the concept off the ground, it required the help of a business entrepreneur to provide a wealth of business expertise and knowledge and that’s where local businessman Barrie Brown came in.

Barrie has run his own businesses in Edinburgh for the past 15 years and has been a fellow Director since its inception.

Everything4Rugby (E4R) was established two years ago but it’s with the recent launch of its app that will really put E4R on the map.

This brand new concept is designed to bring the clubs, members and communities together into one place. It’s a hub of information for members about their club and offers a magazine of lifestyle articles and interviews, as well as discounts off an array of retailers, upon signing up for the membership.

The clubs can use their dedicated club page to effectively communicate and engage with the whole community, as well as providing their sponsors with a unique digital platform, which will in turn help retain and entice new sponsors; this is a vital revenue stream to every club. Clubs can also include the membership as an additional benefit to their members.
