University of St Andrews director heads to New York for entrepreneur event

Next month, Dr. Ewan Chirnside, Director of the Knowledge Transfer Centre at the University of St Andrews, will discuss emerging technologies from the University with alumni, investors and venture capitalists in New York City.

Within the Knowledge Transfer Centre, Dr. Chirnside is responsible for the running of the unit and its operations, the quality of service provided to researchers, building and maintaining strategic
relationships with commercial sponsors and government stakeholders, managing university intellectual property, supporting technology commercialization and the formation of University spin out companies.

The November 13th event will be hosted by the St Andrews Angels of New York, alongside SAP Next-Gen at Hudson Yards in Manhattan. The St Andrews Angels, established by Andrew Romero and Matthew Leonard, is an alumnus led network of entrepreneurs, financiers, business leaders and faculty connected to the University of St Andrews. The group provides investment capital,
strategic advice, consultation and mentorship to early stage companies within the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Chirnside will be joined by Venture Capitalist, and St Andrews alumnus, Joseph Sartre. Joseph is a Partner at VC firm Bleu Capital. Based in both New York and San Francisco, Bleu
Capital invests at pre-seed and seed stage ventures within the retail sector.

Emblematic of the St Andrews Angels commitment to supporting Scottish early stage ventures and entrepreneurs, the event will help foster greater linkages between the University
community and US investors. Those who have previously addressed St Andrews Angels events include the likes of Gust CEO, New York Times bestseller and New York Angels Chairman Emeritus, David S. Rose.
