Scots biomass specialist unveils exclusive Electratherm partnership

Uphall-based Scot Heat & Power has signed an exclusive partnership to be the only Scottish company to offer ElectraTherm’s innovative Power+ Generator that utilises waste heat for efficient clean energy production.

A global leader in distributed, waste heat to power generation, Bitzer-owned ElectraTherm - already has selected installations in the UK, but the deal with Scot Heat & Power marks its first and only Scottish presence. In recent years alone, ElectraTherm has announced new installations in Germany, Italy, Romania and Japan.

Licensed only to Scot Heat & Power north of the border, the Power+ Generator utilises waste heat on applications such as internal combustion engines, biomass boilers, flare gas, geothermal/co-produced fluids, and more.

The flexible generator can be used with standard biomass hot water boilers, utilising low temperature and low pressure Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and its proprietary technologies for major efficiencies.

The Power+ can also produce clean electricity from low grade waste heat, and is capable of reaching outputs of up to 110kWe power generation.

The easily installed technology is capable of benefitting waste heat or process heat users, representing a strong competitive advantage for commercial sites.

Globally, the Power+ fleet exceeds 50 machines in operation and has surpassed 75 years of runtime.

Scot Heat & Power’s Managing Director, Malcolm Snowie said: “We are pleased to be exhibiting once again at All-Energy, and to be unveiling some of the most innovative technological developments in our field with over 7,000 developers, researchers and buyers expected to be attending over the event’s two days.

“We are particularly proud to be partnering with ElectraTherm, bringing its leading power generation capabilities exclusively to Scotland.

“The waste heat to power market offers incredible potential. We believe that there is so much more to come and that we now have the opportunity to be at the forefront of that.

“The Power+ fleet has enjoyed considerable global success, and we are certain that can be replicated here for better efficiency and cost savings for commercial users through low maintenance, clean electricity.

“Our presence once more at Finnieston demonstrates the focus that we place on clean power generation where we see a strong avenue of growth for the business.

“We are looking forward to making a strong contribution to the show, emphasising our significantly expanded offering, with the aim of driving further value and efficiency in the marketplace.

“It’s an exciting time for us to talk about the considerable environmentally sustainable advances that we’ve been able to bring to Scotland as we look to expand our interests further.”
