New Aston Martin DB11 breaks pre-order record at Aston Martin dealership

The new Aston Martin DB11

Aston Martin Edinburgh, Scotland’s only official Aston Martin dealer, has taken more deposits for the new DB11 than any other model.

The DB11 is the first redesign of the DB model – made famous by its appearance in James Bond movies – in thirteen years.
It is a twin-turbocharged 600bhp GT with a 5.2litre V12 engine. Features include a clamshell bonnet, a state of the art infotainment system and a way of flowing air through the Aston Martin bodywork called Aeroblade. As with all Aston Martins, the DB11 is entirely hand-built in the UK.

Head of sales Roddy McAllister said, “The interest has been phenomenal, we took fourteen pre-orders before it was even unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and a further four on Saturday when we had it for one day in the showroom.

“Previously our record was six – and that was for the Aston Martin Vanquish.”

With the price starting at £154,900, the car was described by Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer as “the absolute embodiment of what an Aston Martin should be.”

Production numbers are very limited across the world, the Edinburgh-based dealership has an allocation for 2016 of 10, with their showroom car being changed to fulfil a customer’s order.

“It really is a thing of beauty,” Roddy added. “On Saturday we had over 250 people visit the showroom to see it. It was only in Scotland for one day on its pre-production UK tour, the first cars won’t be available until late 2016.”

Chris McMahon, together with his father, Hugh McMahon, and finance director Brian Ritchie, took over the dealership and the Rolls Royce franchise next door in April 2014 and have seen sales increase significantly over the last two years.
