Entrepreneur launches £200,000 crowdfunding campaign to combat night time road accidents

Aberdeen entrepreneur Sooz Chirino has created a fashionable solution to help combat night time road accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists.

Not being visible at night is one of the main contributing factors that results in a pedestrian or cyclist being killed or injured every hour in the UK and with this knowledge in mind, Sooz created her new business - SanSooz.

SanSooz has created innovative and unique reflective outdoor clothing and accessories of the highest quality. The reflective elements the same colour as the garment, or included within the designs as part of the patterns.

Their aim is to help kids, adults, cyclists, busy commuters and vulnerable pedestrians be more visible during night time and there is even a reflective dog coat for your four legged friends.

Founder Sooz says "Our mission is for road users to be safe, seen & stylish. We intend to keep them fashionable by day and highly visible at night with our unique designs; giving drivers vital seconds to take preventative actions in these dark nights".

The business is ready to launch soon and will begin its journey with a 4 week crowdfunder.co.uk campaign to raise £200,000.

The campaign is being supported by Angus Council. Shelley Hague, Business Manager (Funding, Policy & Projects) – Economic Development, Angus Council says "The products are great; we think they will be a great success with kids and adults alike. I think it's great that SanSooz have even created a lovable road safety mascot dog called SANdy (Seen At Night dy). He will be visiting local schools to spread the road safety message soon".

Sooz says "We want to get our products to you, your friends and family as soon as possible. Crowdfunding will enable us to fund our clothing and accessories for volume production. We can also continue with our research and development as we have loads more product ideas in the pipeline." Their crowdfunding campaign goes live on 31st March 2016 and they are hopeful of individual and corporate pledges.
