Persimmon set for further growth as visitor numbers rise

John Cassie, regional chairman of Persimmon Homes in Scotland

Persimmon Homes says the company is set for further growth, with visitor numbers to its developments and the sales of new homes both continuing to rise.

It comes as the business releases its third quarter trading update for 2015, which found that private sales are up 12% on the same period last year.

In the next three months, Persimmon will open new developments in Haddington, Silverfields Edinburgh, Muirhead and Cowglen, Glasgow, alongside the homes it currently sales from Dumfries to Aberdeen and Port Glasgow to Dunbar.

The business has also pledged to continue its work with local authorities to meet the housing demand.

John Cassie, regional chairman of Persimmon Homes in Scotland, said: “Persimmon has always been a housebuilder which creates homes for every level of the chain and many of our buyers are moving into their first ever home. Our aim is to continue to deliver homes across the region for buyers who may be renting or still living at home.

“Now is an excellent time to buy a new house with very competitive mortgage rates.”

Additionally, Persimmon has been supporting groups, good causes and charities through its Persimmon Community Champions programme, where its East and West businesses give four local donations, up to the value of £1,000 each, every month.

John added: “So far in 2015 we have supported a diverse range of groups including Lawfield Nursery, in Gorebridge, NCR AFC, in Dundee, Shine Youth Music Theatre, in Carluke and Summerhill Community Centre, in Dumfries.

“Such has been the success of our Community Champions programme we now want to reach even more good causes. We have £2,000 to give away every month and we’re calling on PTFAs, schools, church groups, charities and local groups to apply for a donation.”
