Exova extends Maersk Oil testing contract

Exova extends Maersk Oil testing contract

Edinburgh-based testing firm, Exova, has been awarded a contract extension for its work with Maersk Oil on a North Sea gas field.

The contract is an extension of the testing Exova has previously undertaken on down-hole tubulars in 2014 for the oil giant’s North Sea Culzean Field Development Project. Maersk Oil has invested more than £1.5billion into the project, with first gas expected in 2019.

In addition to materials qualification testing, the new contract will also see Exova provide two sets of electrochemical corrosion tests and a programme of Galvanically-induced Hydrogen Stress Cracking tests through its specialised centre in Dudley.

Helene Jones, general manager at the Exova Corrosion Centre in Dudley, said: “We are proud to extend our relationship with Maersk Oil. The company demands the highest standards of testing services and the capabilities we offer through our dedicated corrosion centre in Dudley mean we are well placed to meet its requirements.”
