Dundee Waterfront secures more than £600m investment

Dundee Waterfront secures more than £600m investment

More than £600million of committed investment has now been secured for the Dundee Waterfront.

The announcement will be officially made next month, as the developers hold roadshows in Aberdeen on 5 November, and in Edinburgh in Glasgow on 10 November, highlighting the opportunities still available to investors.

Among the latest round of committed investments includes the new Dundee railway station, hotel and retail development, a new Hilton Hampton hotel, the creation of a marina and upgrade of lock gates, and the funding of the V&A Museum of Design.

At the roadshows, Dundee Waterfront will also reveal that it is receiving rising numbers of enquiries from investors and developers both in Dundee, the wider UK and internationally, across sectors including life sciences, renewables, creative industries and tourism.

Mike Galloway, director of city development with Dundee City Council, said: “We are delighted at the interest being shown in the business potential on offer in the waterfront area. We are keen to encourage sustainable, design-led development that reflects Dundee’s status as the UK’s first Unesco City of Design.

“Most of the land in the central Waterfront is owned by Dundee City Council, so we can work in partnership with investors and take a long-term holistic approach to development. We are also open to joint ventures so would encourage businesses and entrepreneurs to contact us with their concepts.”
