North-east hotel proves Christmas is a time of giving

Ardoe Head chef, Richard Yearnshire

An executive head chef from an award-winning Aberdeen hotel is preparing to cook extra meals this festive season in support of a local charity.

Mercure Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel and Spa’s executive head chef, Richard Yearnshire, will be preparing 50 meals for The Cyrenians in Aberdeen on Christmas day.

For nearly 50 years, Cyrenians has served those on the edge, working with the homeless and vulnerable to transform their life by beginning with their story, helping them believe in themself, and walking with them as they lead their own transformation.

Staff at Ardoe, which is situated on the outskirts of the city, have been supporting the charity for a number of years, and all of the meals prepared will be personally hand delivered by Mr Yearnshire and his team on Christmas day, before a busy day of festivities commences at the hotel.

Richard and his dedicated kitchen team are passionate about the farm to fork ethos, and the gourmet Christmas dinner will include turkey from a local farm, complete with all the trimmings.

Depute chief executive of Aberdeen Cyrenians, Scott Baxter, said: “Aberdeen Cyrenians is yet again delighted to receive the continued support of Ardoe. The hotel has been providing us with Christmas meals for a number of years, and it is always highly appreciated by our service users.”

Peter Sangster, general manager of Ardoe, said: “We have been supporting the charity for a number of years now, and Richard and his team take great pride in preparing the batch of extra meals as they know they are going to such a worthy cause.

“The festive season is a busy time of the year for Ardoe, and it is fantastic that Richard and his staff take time out to personally deliver the meals. We are proud of their efforts and are happy to continue to support the charity.”
