Oil & Gas UK Awards deadline extended following high levels of interest

The deadline for this year’s Oil & Gas UK Awards has been extended by one week, following high levels of interest in applying for the accolades.

Potential entrants now have until 5pm on August 21 to enter, with nominations for the recently-announced Oil and Gas Authority MER UK Award remaining open until September 2.

The ninth annual Oil & Gas Awards are sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited, and will take place at Aberdeen’s Exhibition and Conference Centre on the evening of November 5.

With the company awards - for Investment in People and for Business Innovation - split into two categories for large and small firms, it is hoped that this year’s awards will encourage a more diverse range of players in the sector to share their achievements.

Meanwhile the Oil and Gas Authority MER UK Award, which has been introduced this year, will aim to highlight firms of all sizes which have adopted a co-operative approach and positive behaviour to maximise the economic recovery of oil and gas on the UK Continental Shelf.

Additionally, outstanding individuals will also be recognised with awards for Mentor of the Year, Apprentice of the Year and Graduate of the Year.

Stephen Marcos Jones, Oil & Gas UK business development director, said: “Outstanding individuals and companies are required more than ever in this challenging business environment to lead the way to an efficient, safe and sustainable future for the sector.

“It is clear from the nominations we’ve received so far that a remarkable amount of talent is out there and we want to hear of more. We hope that by granting requests for this extension, we’ll be giving the companies and individuals leading our industry the best opportunity to promote their achievements.”
