MMS lawyer named vice president of the Scottish Food Trade Association

An associate from commercial law firm Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (MMS) has been appointed as vice president of the Scottish Food Trade Association, just months after joining its executive committee.

Lawyer Julie Brown is an associate in the practice’s Intellectual Property & Technology department, and will use her food and drink sector expertise to help drive the Association to promote networking and collaboration.

Additionally, Julie will help to ensure that members and their guests are brought together at the annual golf events and dinner to meet each other and network.

The SFTA was established in 1889, and is the principal networking organisation for Scotland’s food industry. It facilitates the regular exchange of ideas and information between members, with a key part of this its renowned annual dinner, which has a reputation for showcasing the best of the country’s food.

Julie said: “After years of supporting food and drink firms at MMS, I was very pleased to take on this additional role with the SFTA, which fulfils such an important role for the sector.”

SFTA president Malcolm Wilde added: “I was delighted when Julie accepted the role of vice president. She has all of the attributes we look for and has been a great addition to the executive committee of the SFTA.”
